Today Projectplace links in e-mail are regular https: links. This means that the OS will open them in the default web browser. Since Powertab is never the default web browser you have to enter your password even though you are already logged in with Powertab. Also, my default web browser is Chrome, so I don't have drag-n-drop and so on.
A huge improvement in the Powertab functionality would be to add a URI scheme to links in e-mails from Projectplace, such as review e-mails. A URI scheme could be like "powertab:" instead of "https:". This would tell the OS that this link should be opened with Powertab and not the default browser.
The downside with this is that you would have to also have a backup link for the users that don't have powertab installed. However this shouldn't be a problem - perhaps you can just keep the regular link and just add a Powertab icon that links to Powertab.
More info on URI schemes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/URI_scheme
URI schemes have been in use for this scenario for many many years. Common ones are "mailto:" which opens the default e-mail client, and "callto:" which opens Skype, or "spotify:" to add tracks to your playlist.
You would of course have to modify the Windows registry and add support in the Powertab software.
I look forward to this great improvement of the software!
With best regards,
Tobias
Hi,
Yes - these two ideas are trying to solve the same problem.

Since the discontinuation of the powertab browser, we always use your default browser.
